on the way to the basement
started writing what would become spare room in the parking lot of a target. nothing in my head except the chord. my phone died halfway through.
the loud band years
someone asked why i don’t scream anymore. i tried to explain it but the answer is just — i wanted to hear myself for a minute. that’s all.

vespers is a solo project. acoustic pop punk songs about growing up, burning out, starting over, and trying to feel okay again.
before this i was the loud one in a midwest punk band you probably never heard of. we toured in a van that smelled like fryer oil. somewhere between the last basement show and a long winter alone i stopped picking up the phone, picked up an acoustic guitar instead, and started writing the songs i used to scream — quieter.
vespers is what came of that. shelter from the noise. recorded mostly alone, mostly first takes. for the drive home, the spare room, the friend who says they’re fine but isn’t.
